Joanna Invests is very proud to announce the first investment of the package deal: Bloom & Wolf. Bloom & Wolf, transforming the flower industry with sustainable, high-quality silk flowers, raised €1.4 million in pre-seed round.

Amsterdam, 25 April 2024 —Joanna Invests is very proud to announce the first investment of the package deal: Bloom & Wolf.

Following last month's announcement that Joanna Invests, the platform empowering women to invest in female founders, has secured the initial tranche of €500,000 in funding, we are thrilled to announce the first investment of the package deal: Bloom & Wolf.

Bloom & Wolf, an Amsterdam start-up that aims to transform the flower industry with its sustainable silk flowers, announced today their successful closing of its pre-seed financing round (€1.4 million). The round is led by CapitalT, with participation from Joanna Invests and several business angels. The investment will accelerate the company's mission to provide consumers and businesses with a more climate-friendly, convenient and cost-efficient alternative to fresh flowers.

Flowers are cherished worldwide for their beauty, but their cost, maintenance and impact on the climate pose significant challenges. Bloom & Wolf addresses these concerns head-on by supplying high-quality silk flowers that are both beautiful and climate-friendly.

“Fresh flowers have a hefty price tag, require a lot of maintenance and contribute significantly to climate problems through a combination of transport, cooling and the use of pesticides,” says Gwen van de Pas, founder and CEO of Bloom & Wolf. “We saw an urgent need for a sustainable alternative that does not compromise on aesthetics or quality. Bloom & Wolf is proud to offer high quality silk flower designs that not only eliminate these concerns, but also take the beauty of floral decoration to the next level.”

Bloom & Wolf's offering includes a wide range of carefully curated bouquets and flower sculptures, each hand-selected and arranged by a renowned Dutch master florist, available for purchase or rental. Although one-off purchases are possible throughout Europe, subscriptions are currently limited to the Netherlands. Bloom & Wolf's circular rental model ensures sustainability by cleaning bouquets after rental and preparing them for the next customer. Moreover, the model not only delivers elegance and beauty, but also prioritizes climate friendliness with up to 85 times less CO2 emissions (and 4x lower costs!) compared to fresh flower subscriptions.

“With their sustainable approach, Bloom & Wolf wants to capture a significant share of the €34 billion flower market in Western Europe and the US. We believe Bloom & Wolf is ready to lead the way towards a greener, more cost-effective solution for flower lovers worldwide,” said Eva de Mol, Founding Partner at CapitalT.

The financing round, led by CapitalT, with participation from Joanna Invests, will enable Bloom & Wolf to upgrade its product offering and platform, expand its B2B sales capacity and further strengthen its position as a leader in the silk flower market.

Claire Tange, founder of Joanna Invests: “I am super excited with onboarding Bloom & Wolf as our first investment of the package deal. We are confident that Bloom & Wolf is well-positioned to pioneer a more eco-friendly and economically viable option for flower enthusiasts globally. This marks an excellent beginning for our package deal portfolio, and the pipeline of female founders looking for funding is strong. As such, we eagerly looking forward to welcoming the next cohort of female entrepreneurs into our portfolio."
